The Presidents Shield competition was played on Saturday October 9th and, after 2 weather related postponements, we finally got to hold the Jean Hope Shooting competition during the lunch break.
The morning started out very misty and dank and, with 17 players finally registering, we had a good turnout. Coats were very much in order to start with but, by mid-morning, the mist lifted, the clouds burned away and it turned into a beautiful day for playing. Indeed, by lunch time, the benches were full of discarded coats, fleeces and sweaters.
There were some very close games, with no fewer 5 ending 13-12. Of those, we had 1 comback from 5-12, with a 5 being scored on the final end to a jack close against the side, and another from 6-12, although that was more gradual.
The competition was won by David Randall, who won all 5 of his games, with Terry Eames 2nd and Mike Azzopardi 3rd.
